10 reasons to have a mobile version of your website or blog

Now that smartphones have become so affordable and increasingly popular, they are being used to search the internet for everything from paying bills to shopping.

That’s why you’re at risk of losing business if your web site or blog is not usable and readable on these phones.  Sure you may be able to see your site but can you read it?  Can you click on the various tabs on the site?  Probably not.  Fortunately this is where a mobile version of your website will pay for itself over and over again.  Below you’ll see 10 important reasons to have a mobile version of your site that is clear and readable.

Reason #1 Avoid the loss of sales.  Of all the reasons that I can think of for a business to have a mobile ready web site, the number one would be to avoid the loss of sales.  The last thing you want is for customers to skip over your site to use a competitors more readable, attractive site mobile version site.

Reason #2 Get into the mobile website search engines.  This one is huge!   Did you even know that there was such a thing as mobile search engines?  You can only imagine how much increased visibility you could get with your mobile site being listed in these sites.  A few of the top mobile sites are Google Mobile, Yahoo Mobile and Bing Mobile.

Reason #3 Extend your reach. Mobile phones have gone down in price making them much more affordable to virtually everyone.  What this means of course, is that many people will be searching for your business on their mobile phones, and the number of people will only increase.  Be ready.

Reason #4   Follow the trend Getting on the internet using mobile phones is fast becoming the ”norm”.   This is one trend you want to get on quickly.  It’s an easy trend to get in front of and an easy opportunity to take advantage of.

Reason #5 Mobile Apps Mobile Applications have added another dimension to the mobile phone; they allow the user to do everything from play games to balance their check books.

Reason #6 Facebook About half of Facebook’s visitors come from a mobile phone.  If you have a business Facebook account, this makes it easy to engage your customers and to promote to them as well. Of course you could market your website from your Facebook account.

Reason #7 Mobile Barscanning is up 500%

Reason #8 Most small businesses are just beginning to “get it”.  The avalanche is starting.   Now having a mobile ready site is a must have.  You’ll be the “go to” business when customers go to search for your type of product or service a year from now. Many of your competitors will be wondering what is going on.

Reason #9 Image.   By having your site show up properly in a usable format, you create an image of being technically savvy.   Your customers will feel more confident of your business as a whole.

Reason #10 Affordable.  Fortunately having a mobile version of your site is not going to “break the bank”.   There are very affordable solutions.  This is one technology change that you can enjoy without a huge investment.

How to get a mobile version of your site up quick and easy.

There are several options in getting your mobile version ready for your customers to use.

Option One way is to do it yourself,  using one of the mobile services and paying a monthly charge.  You put up the content yourself.  They provide a template and the tools needed for you to create your own mobile site.  There is somewhat of a learning curve, but this is a good option for the techie types.

Option 2 For the non-techie person, you can simply hand the task over to a mobile version specialist and let them take care of the details.  Normally there is a one-time small fee.  One that I recommend can be found at key1dynamics.com/mobile.html  At the time of this writing they were offering a free Facebook business account as well, although I’m not sure if the offer is still available.

Either way you choose is a good option is a good way to go and the sooner the better.

The power of press releases

Press Releases, when they are well written are a sure way to get traffic quickly.   The caveat is that the press release must not only be well written, but it should also be keyword focused and newsworthy.  Press Releases can be submitted to different press release sites, using a similar angle and different headers. The rest of the body should be somewhat different as well.  PRweb is one of the most reputable paid press release sites, but there are some pretty decent free press release sites as well.

Before you submit your press release, you must of course create it.  You want to bring in your readers with a compelling hook.  Make sure that you back it up with facts, details and the reason why.  State your reasons with credibility.  Use other references if at all possible.  For example if you provide graphic design services, provide statistics that show how effective graphic design can improve business.

Additionally, be very clear about what action you want your reader to take:  Are you trying to appeal to a certain type of buyer?  Are you simply trying to get your reader to focus on a key element of your offer?

A good press release should reveal an important event, a change in your sales process, a new website, or the giveaway of a valuable report, video or other content.  Any content that is given away should be of high value.   The idea is to emphasize a hook or an angle to reel in your potential customers.

Speak to  different audiences.

Keep in mind that you should write your press release based on the type of customer that you’re selling to.  Some of your customers are not as sophisticated or educated about your product or industry as others may be.  Others are totally knowledgeable.  Therefore it’s important that you speak to each type of audience.    Obviously, the challenge is to include information for those with basic information about your product or service, as well as those who may be very advanced.

With the amount of free and paid press releases and  an ability to write good press releases, you should be able to get a lot of exposure to your site or offer.   However, if you’d like a press release written created for you and submitted to newspapers, magazines, periodicals, publications, broadcasters and trade journals, and in addition a video created and submitted to videos sharing sites, plus your site socially booked marked  check out the power press release.   This method combines the widely distributed press release with the popularity of social networking.
